Last week Dan and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary. Our wedding was perfect in so many ways and I love looking through the pictures that so wonderfully capture the details of that day. I have wanted to share some of the details for a while now so our first anniversary seemed like the perfect opportunity to finally do so. By the way, all of pictures in this post are from the very talented Erica and Ben of The Ewings Photography Studio. They are the best to work with!
Our wedding day started off at the Langham Hotel in Boston where my bridesmaids and I got ready in one of their suites. The Langham is such a fun place to get ready. Brides and grooms have access to the exclusive “pink lady” taxi, although we never really needed it since our reception took place across the street. Also, the hotel staff delivered pink macarons to our suite that morning. Such a fun surprise!
As for my wedding dress, my mom and I went dress shopping at a few bridal boutiques before deciding that the dresses at J.Crew were much more my style. The J.Crew wedding dresses have a simple elegance to them, nothing too flashy or overdone. I loved the pretty lace detail of my dress. Although the dress was relatively simple, the lace detail gave it that something special I was looking for.
These adorable wedding timeline cards were included in bags given to guests staying in our hotel block along with water bottles, Boston “baked bean” candies, Cape Cod potato chips and small packages of Tylenol.
Our flowers ended up being one of my favorite details from the wedding. I especially loved the floral arrangement below which sat on the table with our seating assignment cards and later moved over to the candy bar. Isn’t it beautiful?
Our florist only brought two bridesmaid bouquets so flowers needed to be taken from our table centerpieces in order to make two more at the last minute. All of the bouquets were beautiful nonetheless.
Our reception was held at the Boston College Club in downtown Boston. Located on the 36th floor of the building, the BC Club has incredible views of the city, something our guests still talk about to this day. My mom and I designed our menu cards for the reception. It was her idea to include the Boston skyline on the bottom of each menu.
We kept things simple with the seating assignment cards since so much time was spent on various other wedding details. The cards were displayed on a table with a sparkly peach tablecloth which I loved.
I used a lot of chalkboard signs to decorate the space. Among my favorite chalkboards were these bride and groom signs for the backs of our chairs.
Instead of cake we decided to go the trendy route and do cupcakes instead. We offered four different cupcake flavors (gold cake with chocolate Baileys mousse was my fav), all decorated with peach and white flowers.
We also had a small cake to cut during the reception and to save for our first anniversary. Well, we planned to save the cake for our first anniversary until my brother-in-law dropped it on his walk back to the hotel that night. Ha!
I know candy bars are a bit overdone at weddings these days but I still really wanted to have one. Dan and I stocked up on candy at BJs prior to the wedding and filled a random assortment of glass jars with our favorites. I bought plain brown bags from the craft store to use as candy bags, punched a scalloped trim along the tops and stamped different sayings like “eat, drink and be married” on the front each bag.
One last picture of my favorite floral arrangement from the wedding. I loved it so much!
